Woodland Profile
Woodland is a well-established woodgrain design within the PG Bison collection. While it has been a staple in the MelaWood range for years, it is perhaps most famous as one of the most popular choices for Formica LifeSeal Worktops.
Aesthetic and Texture
Woodland is a mid-to-dark warm brown woodgrain. It features a rich, traditional “timber” color palette with visible grain patterns that include soft “cathedrals” (the arched patterns in wood) and fine darker lines.
-
Fusion Finish: This is the signature texture for Woodland. The Fusion finish is designed to mimic the feel of natural wood veneer that has been treated with a soft, matte varnish. It has shallow pores and a silky, low-sheen touch that makes the woodgrain look “authentic” rather than printed.
-
The Look: It provides a classic, timeless aesthetic. It isn’t as “red” as a cherry or as “grey” as modern oaks; instead, it offers a natural, balanced brown that brings warmth and a sense of “home” to a space.
Design Applications
Woodland is highly versatile and is often used to create a cozy, welcoming environment:
-
Countertops (Postform): As a Formica LifeSeal decor, it is a top choice for kitchen worktops. Its busy grain is excellent at hiding the small scratches and wear-and-tear that happen in a working kitchen.
-
Traditional & Country Kitchens: Used for both carcasses and door frontals to create a full-timber look.
-
Home Offices: Popular for desk tops and bookshelves because the warm brown tone is easy on the eyes and pairs well with traditional office decor.
-
Retail Fittings: Used for display counters and shelving in shops that want a natural, “earthy” vibe.
Recommended Pairings
Because Woodland is a rich, warm brown, it needs careful pairing to keep the design looking modern:
-
The “Warm Classic”: Pair with Summer White or Nata. The creamy tones of these solids pull out the lighter highlights in the Woodland grain.
-
Modern Contrast: Combine with Folkstone Grey or Storm Grey. The grey tones “cool down” the warmth of the wood, making it feel more contemporary.
-
Earthy Palette: It looks beautiful alongside Congo or Cappuccino for a grounded, monochromatic brown-scale look.
-
Hardware: Best suited to brushed stainless steel or satin chrome for a clean look, or antique brass to lean into a more rustic, traditional style.
