Laredo Profile
Laredo is a bold, rustic woodgrain finish from the PG Bison MelaWood Expressions range. It belongs to the Natural Touch collection and is designed for those who want their cabinetry to have a strong, “reclaimed” timber character.
Aesthetic and Texture
Laredo is a mid-to-dark tone woodgrain with a distinctive weathered appearance. It features a warm, earthy brown base heavily accented with dark charcoal “cracks,” prominent knots, and deep grain variations.
-
Natural Touch (NT) Finish: This is a synchronized (SIR) finish. The physical texture you feel is laser-mapped to the visual image. When you touch a knot or a “split” in the wood pattern, your fingers feel the indentation. This creates a highly authentic, tactile experience that mimics raw, sun-bleached timber.
-
The Look: It has a “rugged” personality. Unlike the clean, linear look of Azzano or Stonetown, Laredo is full of movement and natural “imperfections,” making it look like high-end salvaged wood.
Design Applications
Laredo is a “statement” finish best used where you want to add organic warmth and a sense of history:
-
Modern Farmhouse Kitchens: Often used for kitchen islands or floating shelves to provide a rustic contrast against clean solid colors.
-
Feature Walls & Bars: Its heavy texture makes it an excellent choice for home bars or vertical wall cladding, where the deep grain can be highlighted with accent lighting.
-
Masculine Study/Office: It provides a grounded, solid feel for desks and library shelving.
Recommended Pairings
Because Laredo is visually “busy,” it is best balanced with smoother or solid-colored materials:
-
Industrial Luxe: Pair with Urban Steel or Foundry. The combination of rustic wood and weathered metal is the quintessential “Industrial” look.
-
Clean Contrast: Combine with Summer White or Nata. The soft, creamy solids help tone down the ruggedness of the wood while making the grain “pop.”
-
Moody Tones: It looks exceptional next to Storm Grey or Kalapana. The dark solids pull out the charcoal tones in the Laredo grain.
-
Hardware: Best suited to matte black hardware or antique bronze to complement its rustic roots.
