Urban Steel Profile
Urban Steel is a distinctive, industrial-inspired finish within the PG Bison MelaWood SupaTexture collection. It is designed to capture the raw, weathered look of oxidized metal and distressed steel, fitting perfectly into the “Industrial Luxe” design trend.
Aesthetic and Texture
Urban Steel is characterized by its deep charcoal and slate tones, accented by subtle metallic-looking “stains” and weathering patterns.
-
SupaTexture Finish: This is the defining feature of Urban Steel. It offers a deep, tactile embossing that mimics the uneven surface of cold-rolled steel or aged metal. The surface has a grainy, matte feel that scatters light, giving the material a three-dimensional depth that standard flat colors cannot achieve.
-
The Look: It provides a moody, masculine aesthetic. While it is dark, the multi-tonal nature of the print prevents it from looking like a flat, solid black. It has “movement” that suggests an architectural, man-made material.
Design Applications
Urban Steel is a “statement” finish often used to ground a room or create a focal point:
-
Feature Kitchen Cabinetry: Often used for lower cabinets or a large kitchen island to contrast against lighter upper units.
-
Media Units & Wall Panels: Its rugged texture makes it an excellent choice for floating TV units or decorative wall cladding in modern lofts.
-
Commercial Interiors: Frequently specified for reception desks, restaurant bars, and retail shelving where a durable, edgy look is required.
Recommended Pairings
Because Urban Steel is dark and textured, it works best when paired with materials that offer contrast in either color or warmth:
-
With Woodgrains: Pair with Natural Oak or Bellavista. The warmth of the wood balances the “cold” industrial feel of the steel.
-
With Light Solids: Combine with Muidan or Folkstone Grey. This prevents the space from feeling too heavy and highlights the intricate textures of the Urban Steel.
-
Industrial Palette: It looks incredible next to Luca Polenta (concrete look) for a full warehouse-style aesthetic.
-
Hardware: Best suited to matte black for a stealthy look, or brushed copper/bronze to pull out the subtle “metallic” undertones of the finish.
