SupaWood Double Faced Profile

SupaWood Double Faced is the premium MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) offering from PG Bison. While “SupaWood” refers to the high-quality wood-fibre core, “Double Faced” refers to the board being finished with a decorative melamine surface on both sides.

This is the industry standard for high-end cabinetry, providing a balanced, stable, and visually consistent board.

Construction and Surface

Unlike a “Single Faced” board (which has a decorative front and a plain or “backer” back), Double Faced boards are identical on both sides.

  • The Core: SupaWood is made from fine wood fibres felted together and bonded with resin under high heat. This results in a much denser and smoother core than standard BisonBord (chipboard).

  • Melamine Face: A decorative paper impregnated with melamine resin is thermally fused to both sides. This creates a hard-wearing, moisture-resistant, and easy-to-clean surface.

  • Finishes: It is available in almost all PG Bison textures, including:

    • Peen: A durable, stippled finish.

    • Linear: A textured, straight-grain feel.

    • Matt: A smooth, low-sheen surface.

Why Choose Double Faced SupaWood?

  • Structural Balance: Applying the same material to both sides prevents the board from “bowing” or warping. This is critical for large doors or tall pantry units.

  • Aesthetics: When you open a cupboard door, the inside looks exactly like the outside. This provides a “solid-wood” feel and a high-end finish.

  • Precision Machining: Because the core is so fine and dense, SupaWood is the best substrate for CNC routing. You can cut intricate patterns or “handleless” J-grooves without the edge crumbling.

  • Hygiene: Includes PG Bison’s integrated anti-bacterial additive as standard, making it safe for food preparation areas.

Primary Applications

  • Premium Kitchen Cabinetry: Used for doors, end panels, and visible carcasses.

  • Built-in Cupboards: Ideal for bedroom wardrobes where the interior aesthetics are just as important as the exterior.

  • Office Furniture: Perfect for executive desks and boardroom tables where the underside and topside are both visible.

  • Wall Paneling: Used in commercial spaces for decorative cladding that requires a perfectly flat surface.

Technical Specifications

  • Standard Size: 2750mm x 1830mm.

  • Standard Thicknesses: 16mm (standard for doors/carcasses), 32mm (standard for shelving/worktops).

  • Density: Approximately (making it heavier and stronger than chipboard).

  • Environmental: PG Bison SupaWood is sourced from sustainable plantations and is FSC certified.
